What users say
Taxis, Uber, and Lyft
When arriving at or departing from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), transportation options like taxis and rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft play a crucial role. However, the passenger experience varies, highlighting both convenience and areas for improvement.
Ease of Access and Signage
FLL offers a designated rideshare area, making it relatively simple for passengers to locate Uber and Lyft pick-up points. Despite this, reviews reveal a need for better signage and organization. Several travelers expressed frustration over unclear markings at pick-up zones, especially for rideshare services, which sometimes led to confusion and delays. Adding terminal-specific identifiers (e.g., "1E" instead of just "E") could significantly enhance user experience.
Traffic and Waiting Times
The airport’s busy nature contributes to significant traffic congestion, particularly near pick-up and drop-off points. Many passengers reported long waits for Uber or Lyft vehicles, as well as challenges for drivers navigating through disorganized traffic. Some even noted having to circle around multiple times or deal with cramped waiting areas, especially during peak hours.
Pricing and Convenience
Rideshare apps provide a more budget-friendly option compared to traditional taxis, particularly for longer distances. However, some users have complained about surge pricing during high-demand periods. Taxis, while reliable, are often perceived as more expensive, making Uber and Lyft the preferred choice for cost-conscious travelers.
Safety and Comfort
Safety is a top priority, and the designated areas for rideshares and taxis at FLL are generally secure. However, passengers emphasized the lack of covered seating at pick-up points, leaving them exposed to Florida’s frequent rain showers. This small improvement could make a big difference for those waiting.
